Clay watched Annie move from the kitchen to the dining room. She seemed okay for now, sad sure, maybe a little drunk, but generally okay. He chose to put one of his favorite pieces of music on the stereo quietly. It was loud enough only so that the condo wasn't completely silent.
Clay put his head back and closed his eyes. His tears came three or four minutes later when the realization of how close he came to loosing Annie again and for good hit him. He figured these were the first of many times he was going to have to deal with all of it, now that they were married.
