Annie had resisted the overwhelming urge to spend the next week at Clay's apartment just in case he came home. As six days, then seven passed, she honestly thought she was going to come out of her skin if he didn't call her. Every night, she lay awake in her own bed, staring at the ceiling, wondering if, during that last week, something had gone horrendously wrong.

The night of the eighth day, Annie got ready for bed, throwing herself onto it in frustration, knowing that her dreams would be restless, if she even managed to fall asleep.

"Women can be very scary if other women move in. Catty doesn't begin to cover it." Her tone was very matter of fact.

"I'm sure. I've seen men do the same thing."

"Get very possessive over what's theirs?" She eyed him. "I've seen it, too. Every time Jai Wilcox even thought about breathing in my general direction at the dinner."

"I just can't stand him."

"I know." Her voice was soothing as she took his plate and then she leaned up against him. "But I'm not with Jai, I'm with you. Here. Tonight."

"And you did say I was good with my hands."

"Oh, now that sounds like an offer, Clayton."

"That's good, because it was."

It had been about eight hours after all.

"Mmm," she said, taking a deep breath. "I'd also add that the foot massage was the start of a seduction."

"I figured."

"You're shameless." As if she had any room at all to talk.

"I know," and to emphasize his point, he rested his hand on her thigh.

"Now, I'm just trying to clarify before we get started." Her words were all business, but her tone was totally playful. "Are you looking to actually make it to the bedroom or are you trying to have all our clothes end up on the floor because I make you take me right here on the couch?"

What was this about his being old? She seems to have forgotten.

"The bedroom would make my plans a little easier."

Her eyebrows went up and she immediately stopped joking.

"You have plans?"

"Just came up with them during that foot rub, so they might not be the world's most thought out plans."

"I don't care. Honestly? I just want you and me and a bed and now would be good." Standing, she began to stack the cartons on the plates. It was time to get the show on the road.

"Alright...go in the bedroom, I'll be in after I lock the door."

She followed his instructions and finished undressing in his room. Thankfully, she still had one nightgown left there - the red one he'd bought her in Russia. Putting it on, she climbed onto the bed.

Webb came in the room a few minutes later after locking up and putting the dishes in the dishwasher. "Save that for me?"

"Just for you."

She shifted slightly, then crossed her legs so that the slip rode up dangerously high on her thighs.

Webb just looked at her for a few minutes from his vantage point at the end of the bed. This was something that over the past month, he doubted he would see again.

Then he joined her on the bed, still dressed and proceeded to touch Annie everywhere he could, making full use of his hands.

Taking full advantage of her position at the head of the bed, she slid down over the pillows, her body going limp under his touch. Her head dropped back on the pillows once she was low enough and she closed her eyes so that she could fully appreciate something that she wasn't sure she would ever get the chance to again.

"This-" Inhaling, she felt her nipples tighten and the rest of her soften. "Yes."

The look on her face was nothing but pure pleasure.

"I missed you, so much."

He hadn't even thought to kiss her yet, and assumed if he did so, they wouldn't get the chance to do anything else.

He would have been right. Just feeling his hands on her had her close enough to grab him and have her way. Laying there and letting him touch was agony as it was. Exquisite, yes, but agony all the same.

"I missed you, too." She felt tears spring to her eyes, but she was determined to keep them under control.
