[Honeymoon] ... I'm on a boat, and in a hotel.

It had been a phenomenal ceremoney and a breathtaking reception. Rather, both receptions had been incredible, and as Annie slid into bed at Manderly at three in the morning after making sure that the guest house was clear of everyone except her and Webb, she felt that having been up for twenty-one hours had been more exhausting this time than for anything she'd done before.

Like Auggie had said: the op of a lifetime.

She and her new husband were scheduled to leave on a noon flight to London and from there, start their cruise to Greece. Ten days on a boat for her, followed by a week in a hotel in the Cyclades for him.

Santorini. The water was blue, the sand was white and their hotel put the word luxury to shame. Their balcony had a pool, their pool had a view-- actually, their everything had a view and there was really no reason at all to leave the room. Between room service and the masseuse that came to them, Annie and Webb were in heaven.

Webb couldn't be happier. He finally married Annie, in front of his family and friends. Like Annie, he was completely exhausted after the ceremony and two receptions, but he was oddly excited to be taking a trip for pleasure in a country he'd never done work in. Granted, there were still two agency employees who had to accompany them and as long as the global intelligence community didn't blow up over the next three weeks, it should be an uninterrupted vacation.

During his week on the boat, Webb kept track of how many different bathing suits Annie had packed. His favorite was the new one, which he was sure she bought more for him than her.

The hotel they selected for after the cruise was even more amazing than Clay could have imagined. Clear views of the ocean from everywhere. If he didn't have Manderly to retire to, this place would be a close second.

Today he decided to sit outside near the pool and just look out at the water. It was one of the few times in his life he felt completely relaxed and he had no one to blame for it but Annie.

"Good Morning."

Clay's smile was involuntary. He'd never been happier than he was on this trip. Annie's suntan and the suit did nothing to make his mood anything less than fantastic.

"It's really beautiful out here."

His evaluation of the view did include Annie, there was no question about that.

"I don't think you've ever taken me for granted."

He could agree that she was a lucky woman, as long as she agreed he was the luckiest man alive.

"I wish we could, but we have that whole God and Country thing waiting when we get back. Greater good, blah, blah, blah."

Right now though, he was content to ignore all of that, and his expression conveyed the same sentiment. Right now all that mattered was spending the rest of his honeymoon in secluded bliss with his wife.

Clay knew he was far from perfect, but right now he was going to stick with Annie's opinion of him.

"I love everything about you too, especially that suit."

He was very happy their hotel room was as secluded as it was. He didn't have to worry about anything aside from not being so loud the men down the hall heard them. Luckily, their room didn't have quite the outdoor area his and Annie's did.

"Were you planning on being productive out here?"

[identity profile] fakes-death.livejournal.com 2012-05-14 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
"I didn't before, but I do now."

He put his arms around Annie's waist, actually the slightest bit upset that he wasn't going to get to see this suit in the pool.

"Only when I'm relaxed. Imagine what you have to look forward to when I finally retire."

He did manage to watch Annie untie her top out of the corner of his eye.

"Something to look forward to." Clay was being completely serious.

At this moment, the only view he was concerned with was the one he had of Annie.

"mmhmm, ready," he acknowledged.

While Annie was moving Clay decided he was going to enjoy the view that had absolutely nothing to do with Greece.

He returned her kiss, and managed to whisper just how much he loved her.

"I think I managed to figure it out," he said with a smile.

He did manage to move over and give Annie a little extra room in his deck chair, not really ready to let her go just yet.

"I guess the sun makes me adventurous."

"I am."

Clay looked Annie over at once amazed at how well she tans and the fact that red could look even better on her.

"If I wasn't I'd be as red as your suit."

Going back to reality was going to be truly terrible.

"I'm going to go back to enjoying the view."
