It was an op in Vegas, which was so weird since most of her domestic ops stayed in the DC Metro area, and Annie had done her job well. The extra babysitting had been extra annoying (when wasn't it?), but he'd come along to visit an old friend... or so he'd said.
She hadn't seen hide or hair of him during her mission, but when she went to have a drink in the bar at their hotel late the night before they were supposed to leave, she found him sitting in a dark corner. When didn't he sit in dark corners, really, but she rolled her eyes and put a smile on her face to join him.
Their breakup and subsequent dealings had been difficult, and after that State Dinner, she'd gone out of her way to keep her distance from him as much as possible. That didn't mean they couldn't enjoy a drink or two (or seven) while in Vegas.
Unfortunately--
When Annie woke to the pounding in her head, she almost couldn't open her eyes. When she finally managed, she ignored the immense nausea she felt and peered at the walls in the hotel room she was in. She hadn't been given this nice of a room, not on the Agency's dime, no. This was something else. Turning, she caught sight of a man's head and her eyes widened, causing the pounding to pick up and she clenched her eyes shut again with a groan.
Clapping both hands, right over left, on her head, she felt something heavy and lifted them again almost immediately. Seeing the wedding ring set on her left hand, she gasped.
"Oh, my God."

"Oh, my God."

The weekend was spent at Porter's home, and she pumped him for all kinds of information about Annie, their relationship and possible grandkids.
When his phone rang at 11PM and he looked at the caller ID, the grin that appeared on his face was involuntary, "Welcome home."

She waited patiently for him to realize she meant his outside and once he opened the door, she walked into his arms and a hug.

"I missed you."
no subject
"I missed you, too," she told him quietly, murmuring against the skin just below his ear. "But? First one down, so all the other ones should be easier, right?"
no subject
"Are you hungry or would you rather go right to bed?"
no subject
They both knew that airplane food wasn't the best, but they also both knew that she wasn't likely to eat after being gone for eight days and it being that late at night. Plus, she'd missed him and she wanted to go to bed. "Did I wake you up?"
no subject
"No, I was just heading upstairs. Go on up, I'll lock up and bring your bag in a minute."

Upstairs, she stripped immediately, and after a short debate, she jumped into the shower. She didn't bother with washing her hair, but she scrubbed down as quickly as she could to get rid of the airplane smell, and then put on a pair of shorts and a shirt of his.
In the bedroom, she crawled onto the bed and sprawled out, her head landing on his chest. "Mmm."

"How was the mission?" He wasn't asking for details, he knew better than that, just some generalities.

"I got rid of some old things and spent the weekend with my mother. Other than that, not really."
Annie didn't need to know about the interrogation his mother put him through about their relationship.

The more he rubbed, the more relaxed she became, her body curling into his as she had back in the day.

"It's early," she muttered, tightening her hold on him and tucking herself against him even tighter. "What're you doing this morning?"
no subject
He put his arms around Annie, keeping her right where she was. He was in no rush to get up after he turned the alarm off of course.

She tilted her head up to kiss the underside of his jaw and then nuzzled him in the same spot because she could. "Sorry I fell asleep on you so quick last night. Plane rides... you know I can't sleep."
no subject
He started playing with her hair again, "It's fine. Work has a tendency to make any of us tired. You're home and hopefully not due to be out and about right away."
no subject
A smile appeared on her face and she lifted her head and pulled her hand free to push her hair back. "Actually, after that, I'm still yours. In fact, I'm just... yours."
no subject
If this was how the morning was going to go, most likely he wasn't going to get to go to work until at least 11 as well.
no subject
Eleven was looking pretty good, if she were honest.

"I really, really missed you," she told him, eyes closed. Her smile was very 'cat that ate the canary' and she added, "But not just eight days. Nine months, Clay. I missed you for nine months."
no subject
"I did too. Everyday. I didn't realize how much you were in my life. I missed all of it."
no subject
She didn't promise that she wouldn't do things in there, either, but she could try and keep her hands to herself.

A shower with Annie, something that, nine months ago he never thought would happen again. Yet, here he was and they were married. It all still amazed him.
The first thing he did once in the shower was wash Annie's hair, mostly because he knew how much she loved it.
