Annie had resisted the overwhelming urge to spend the next week at Clay's apartment just in case he came home. As six days, then seven passed, she honestly thought she was going to come out of her skin if he didn't call her. Every night, she lay awake in her own bed, staring at the ceiling, wondering if, during that last week, something had gone horrendously wrong.

The night of the eighth day, Annie got ready for bed, throwing herself onto it in frustration, knowing that her dreams would be restless, if she even managed to fall asleep.

Turning sideways on the couch, Annie slid her feet into his lap with a curious look.

He started with the foot she slid out of her shoes first. Apparently the skills he learned from his winter in Sweden extended to foot rubs as well.

"Oh, God." Leaning against the end of the couch, she slid down a little and closed her eyes. "I missed you a lot."

It was a blatant nod to his incredible massage ability.

"I cook, I clean, I give massages, indulge your shoe habit. You made out pretty well."

"You're almost the perfect man," she agreed, still riding a blissful high, the feel of his hands on her just about doing her in. It wasn't even sexual, but she hadn't felt his bare hands on her bare skin in over a month.

Then she realized what he said and she lifted her head. "You didn't do so bad yourself."

"Funny, Smart, intelligent, strong, beautiful."

He switched feet, "Appreciates my ability to give massages, I did pretty well."

"Any woman in her right mind would appreciate that." It came out a slight whine as she dropped her head back again. She might love her shoes, but sometimes they were hell on her feet. "You know how to use your hands."

"So you keep telling me."

When the doorbell rang, Annie was halfway to falling asleep, totally immersed in what he had been doing to her. She'd totally forgotten about the rest of her day and was so relaxed she'd almost become a puddle.

"Mmm, food."

Webb got up, answered the door, and paid the delivery man. The bag of food was then deposited on the coffee table, and he went to wash his hands.

When he came back from the kitchen he had plates and drinks.

"We're all set." Then he settled on the couch. Informal dinner, informal setting.

Annie lay on the couch still, though she'd curled up so he had a place to sit. Watching him, still exhausted, she had a smile on her face. It really was the little moments like this that she'd missed.

It didn't matter to her that she was still dressed in her suit for the day, she could have happily gone to sleep right there and felt safe.

"I'm glad you're back. This is my idea of a perfect night."

Clay dished himself out a plate of food, "I think it's becoming mine too."

Before he could comment on how she never ate, she sat up and took a plate, too. Food was piled on and then she sat back again.

"If it wasn't, I'd hope you say so," she teased.

"You're here, I'm here, and we're both mostly uninjured. That's the best part, I think."

"Injuries incurred while lifting luggage don't count." She was eating her food slowly as she pondered him. "When do you have to go back to work?"

"Tomorrow afternoon. I have a meeting to catch me up on whatever happened over the last few weeks."

"Did you miss your suits?" She started pushing her food around on her plate.

"I did. Even the white one is too hot for Paraguay."

"I missed seeing them in the food court. Mid-morning coffee breaks weren't the same without you." Finished, she set the plate down on the table and pulled her legs up to look at him. "I'm sure the baristas will be happy to see you."

"I know they'll be happy to see my tips."

"That's kind of what I meant," she agreed. "You're the most generous one in the Agency, I'm sure."

"Probably the only one in the Company that can afford it and comes down from above the seventh floor."

Most of the other directors thought it was improper to socialize with the other agents. He and Arthur were the exceptions.

Not only were he and Arthur the exceptions, they really went beyond the scope and actually dated agents... or in Arthur's case, married.

"That's why you get perfect coffee every time. And they remember your order. And? I think they're flirting."

"They can flirt all they want. I only have eyes for you."

"I was teasing. I'm sure they can guess what I'd do if they tried anything else." She was all smiles.
