[Post Belarus] -- after 2.06

Annie had told Danielle that she was exhausted, but that was so much of an understatement that it was ridiculous. After making sure that her older sister had put the good coffee on the menu, Annie hauled her suitcase off to the guesthouse with as much nonchalance as she could muster.

After she'd made sure that her classified paperwork was put away where it was supposed to be, she came very close to laying down on the window seat and falling asleep there. It took way too much effort than it should have to make it into the shower and actually scrub her body down.

There is nothing better than your own shower after an op like that, was the thought that she managed after, as she changed into the usual post-mission bedtime wear of Harvard t-shirt and shorts. When the knock came, she thought it was Danielle, reminding her about something else that had happened while she was gone.

Opening the door with a groan, she said, "This couldn't have waited until morn..." Her voice trailed off when she saw her visitor, "ing?"

Clay would never use this to embarrass her, and as it stood right now, they were just going to sleep together, and actually sleep. He planned to rationalize it in the morning by calling it a beneficial sleeping arrangement for both of them.

He was however, going to skip breakfast.

Clay slept through the night too, better than he had any night two months previous. He had no one to blame but Annie.

Her kiss managed to wake him up, though he wasn't exactly awake, "Good morning."

Clay wanted to ask if she was sure, or if she knew what kind of ramifications this could have, or if she forgave him for being such an asshole, even the tiniest bit.

Instead, he returned her kiss, and put his arms around her.

And now, he was just going to keep his mouth shut and touch her everywhere. Annie needed this, and if he were honest with himself, he'd admit he did too.

He somehow managed to get his shorts off and if asked he wouldn't be able to say how exactly. His shirt was Annie's problem.

If it wasn't for his CIA training, Webb would have told Annie that he loved her, that what he did was stupid, and that he was eternally sorry.

He came soon after Annie, enjoying how close they were at that moment. The last thing he wanted to do was let her go, so he didn't for a while.

If she asked, he'd say she'd always be a part of him and not just because he has two night tables in his bedroom and her shoes in his closet.

"Okay." He said as he made sure to appreciate the view Annie gave him.

Clay put his shorts and shirt back on before figuring out her little coffee maker. He assumed they'd need to talk after this, about something.

But it wasn't a conversation he wanted to have before Annie had her coffee. Self preservation was important.

Clay wanted to talk, but he had no idea what to say. So for the time being, coffee would have to do, and he handed Annie her cup. After a few minutes of quiet sipping he decided to be the one to say something...anything.

"How's the coffee?"

Or as his brain put it, "I missed you."

[identity profile] fakes-death.livejournal.com 2011-07-14 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I wasn't planning to." Self preservation.

Then after a few more minutes of silence he was just going to bring it up, "So...now what?"

[identity profile] fakes-death.livejournal.com 2011-07-14 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Clay did want to talk about it, but it seemed to him that Annie didn't, so he just nodded.

"I'm sorry."

There were so many things that could apply to and he hoped that she knew he'd be there for her anytime she needed him.

"I volunteered to be the undersecretary State was going to send to Belarus."

Then he took a deep breath. Fights between one's emotions and one's brain were always hard ones to fight.

"I" love you "Just want you to know that" I'm sorry for ending things like I did "if you ever need anything, I'll always be there for you."

[identity profile] fakes-death.livejournal.com 2011-07-14 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
That went better than he expected, and he didn't look away from Annie either.

"You're welcome."

"I really should get dressed."

Which he did while Annie put the finishing touches on her outfit.

Clay couldn't leave it at just that, but instead of a kiss, he hugged her tightly, then left her guest house not exactly sure what to say.

"You too," he said with a slight smile before getting in his car. Clay was completely unsure what this whole night meant for them, other than neither of them wanted things to end even though he was the one who did it.
